10 Promises for When our Faith Flickers and Anxiety Rises
It’s easy to focus on what feels overwhelming, and as soon as my thoughts center on this, my faith flickers and my anxiety rises. Therefore, I’m reminded how vital it is for our hearts and our families to stay centered on God’s promises so we can stand firm during this season.
I’m learning ten promises for when our faith flickers and anxiety rises – but before we look at these, it is important to know what to do with these promises.
- Remember to test your feelings with truth. You can feel like God has abandoned you, but that does not mean it’s true. One can feel like God is not good, but the truth of God’s goodness doesn’t change. Our feelings are simply indicators of pain; they do not modify the truth of who God is or what He says He will do.
- Ask God to allow a promise to resonate in your heart. Use the following Scriptures as a starting point, and dive deeper into Scripture by doing a Google search for more verses related to your struggle. God’s promises may not feel true. If that’s the case, ask God to help you feel that truth. God is faithful, and He will direct your heart and mind to a promise if you ask Him to.
- Don’t settle for only reading these promises, meditate on the verse. Repeat it over and over, thinking about each word. Let God’s words soak into your heart. Post the promise somewhere that you can continue to see and think about this verse as you go throughout your day.
