What One Marriage Conference Did For My Marriage
Several years ago my husband and I went to the I Still Do conference hosted by Family Life. Our marriage wasn’t in trouble, yet we were coasting along, just going through the motions.
We had no idea what to expect the day of the conference, and most definitely were not prepared for the lasting impact this event would have on our marriage.
We were told that our marriage was much more than an ‘I do’ – it is a sacred covenant. This discovery added gravity to the weight of our vows. We weren’t just committing to ourselves, we were making a promise to Almighty God.
In the middle of an athletic arena surrounded by thousands of other couples, we made a new promise to God and to one another. For better, for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, and for all the days of our lives.
We affirmed our marriage vows and re-committed to remain true to the promise that we made to ourselves and to God.
There isn’t a better time to renew our commitment to our spouse than today.
Here are six easy ways you can renew your commitment to your spouse:
- Remember what first attracted you to your spouse,, and write them down.
- Then, write down why you love your husband and how you appreciate him.
- Think about the things you’d like to ask forgiveness for. Write those down.
- Describe the type of wife you’re progressing to become. Write it down.
- Explain your hopes for your future together. Write them down.
- Plan alone time to read this to your husband.
