4 Honest Ways to Show Your Husband You Love Him
I’m a work-in-progress wife. Especially in the love department. And since I’ve been doing the marriage thing for over three decades, it speaks to how no wife ever arrives.
Something I’ve learned is that as wives, we all long to be loved deeply by our husbands. Yet for many of us, we must first take the first step in loving our husbands, and leave the outcome with the Lord.
Wives everywhere hope to strengthen their marriage. So where do we start?
I am no marriage expert, but I have learned that by showing my husband I love him, the love I experience within our marriage increases.
Here are 4 ways you can show your husband you love him.
1. Love him by choosing. You chose to love and marry your husband. You chose to promise to always love him. So keep choosing love and determine to stay in love with him. This is often hard in the daily grind of life. But just like anything else, it’s a choice.
For example, spend time with your hsuband at night instead of on social media or always with friends, or always with the kids. Make choices today that grow the fruit of love for tomorrow. And tell him you’d choose him all over again.
2. Love him by doing. Actions don’t prove “I love you” but actions do express love. In the same way that expressions need to be verbal, loving your husband in selfless ways is a bold statement of love.
Think of ways you can bless your husband. Go out of your way to cook his favorite meal, on no special occasion, with a note “just because I love you.” Purchase his favorite candy or sweet with a love note wrapped around it. Or, tape a note like “I believe in you” on his steering wheel before he leaves the house.
3. Love him by seeing the best. Look for the best in him. He was not perfect when you married him and he won’t be perfect in 5, 10, or 20 years. Love sees past mistakes, through hardships, and focuses on the person he can become with your tender acceptance of the complete package. Love him by praising his great attributes and talents.
4. Love him by knowing. Do you know what makes your husband feel loved? If not, ask him. Even asking your husband how you can show him love will speak volumes. Whatever he says, be intentional about following through with his answer.
Wife Step: Pick one or two of the above ideas and follow through with them.
