Kristin lives in Huntsville, Al (or Rocket City as the Huntsvillian’s call it) with her husband Tim and two daughters. Kristin and her husband helped start Epic Church in San Francisco, Ca., and are now the lead planters of Essential Church in Huntsville, Al. I am a woman learning to listen to God, and share how He changed me from the inside out. I am compulsively tidy and organized who also has a tiny phobia of germs.
I am also the wife of a doctor. Not just a regular doctor. But a Gastroenterologist, who on more than one occasion had a wife that made him undress in the garage so as not to bring the “germs” of his day, into our home!
I am the mom of two beautiful. Talented, smart women, and an incredible son all who love and follow Jesus
I have two amazing extra sons now, that have married my daughters, and my very first perfect, wonderful grandchild.
Doesn’t my world sound ideal?-Here’s The Prequel to this story
It certainly didn’t start this way. I grew up in a very messy home, and by messy, I don’t mean unkempt. On the outside, that home looked more perfect than any other home in the neighborhood. But on the inside: dysfunction, dishonesty, addiction, and infidelity were all I knew. I carried a lot of that mess into my “picture perfect” marriage.
“He lifted me out of the pit of despair, Out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground And steadied me as I walked along.”
-Psalm 40 (NLT)
The Lord began calling my name early, but I didn’t hear it until my 20’s. Once I did, He started rewriting my story. He began changing and shaping me into someone that my 20 something self, could never have dreamed of.
He was redeeming and filling my broken heart. He satisfied the deep longing, that I tried to fill with everything but Him. He cleaned me up from the inside out!
I share pieces of my story with you hoping that maybe you’ll see a little bit of yourself in them. That you will see and believe, from my story, that your past does not define who you are.
Your past does not define your future!
My heart has been filled with a new compulsion. That God would allow you to see His transforming power and not my tidy, messiness.
That you would be encouraged to tell your story because it matters.
I tell you of the beautiful new legacy that my husband and I will leave, not to boast, but so you will see how Jesus is a bit of a germaphobe too. He loves us when we are filthy and messy, but even more when we’ve allowed Him in, to clean up the messiest of backgrounds for a new, sparkling clean, legacy!
